MISSION STATEMENT "The Filipino Social Workers of Hawaii provide professional consultation and information to promote awareness and sensitivity to the uniqueness of the Filipino culture." Welcome to the Filipino Social Workers of Hawaii Website! Are you aware that there is an organization of professional Filipino Social Workers in Honolulu? The Filipino Social Workers of Hawaii (FSWH) are continually recruiting new members since its inception in 1987. If you are a Social Worker of Filipino descent or a Filipino at heart, we encourage you to join our Association. Our group evolved from an informal network of Social Workers attempting to exchange practice experiences, ideas and provide support to each other. As professionals, we believe we have a critical role to play and must effectively advocate the importance of our role to better serve the special needs of our clients. Our goals and objectives are networking, enhancing our professional skills through mentorship, workshops and collaboration with other professional groups to bring about awareness, recognition of our cause and advocacy for appropriate services that will meet the needs of Filipino clients. If you are doing Social Work practice on the outer islands, we welcome your input and participation, or become our contact person. Social Work students either at a baccalaureate or graduate level are encouraged to come to our meetings. Become a member and help us make a difference! General membership meetings are held quarterly. Committee meetings are held as needed. If interested in joining , please contact Lina Souza at 808-536-8778 (evenings), or send an email to: LinaMSouza@hawaii.rr.com Should you want more information, please click on the links below.
