NOTICE
​UPDATES TO THE CONTINUING EDUCATION APPROVAL PROGRAM

As of January 26, 2019, the application process has changed.  Step 1 and Step 2 of the CE Application have been collapsed into one (1) step.  Applications are now required to pay the $25 application fee on submitting the application.

As of July 1, 2018, updates to the Continuing Education Approval Program Policies and Procedures took effect.

CE Fees: Waivers 
All applicants who request a waiver of fees for CE activities on or after July 1, 2018 will be responsible for submitting their application and the following information to the CE committee at least 90 days before the scheduled event:  


  1. Conference budget.
  2. A list of materials and copies of all advertisements used to market the event.
  3. A signed attestation form that ensures (1) attendees will not be charged to attend the event, (2) the activity is not being used to market or sell a product or service, and (3) all marketing materials will be updated to include a statement that acknowledges the NASW Hawai'i Chapter for the waiver.

Host a Continuing Education Activity

Continuing Education Approval Program

The State of Hawai`i has designated the National Association of Social Workers Hawai’i Chapter as an approving body for continuing education activities in the State of Hawai`i. The chapter offers organizations and individuals the opportunity to provide formal continuing education activities to social workers and receive continuing education (CE) contact hours. 

Effective August 1, 2014, NASW Hawaii Chapter is implementing a new procedure for the approval of CE.  For trainers interested in obtaining CEU for trainings or workshops, please complete the CE application below. Please note that the fee schedule for CE approval has changed as well.  There will be a $25.00 processing fee for all applications.  In addition, there is a charge of $25.00 per CEU for approved application.  Please submit applications at least 30 days prior to the training.  


The CE approval process has been been updated and is divided into four steps.  All applications for CE approval must be submitted via the online application found at the following url: form.jotform.com/naswhi/ce-application

This new CE approval process includes an integrated payment process which reduces approval time. 

CE Approval Process
  • Step 1: Complete the application and pay the $25 CE Application Fee by visiting the following url: form.jotform.com/naswhi/Step1
  • Step 2: The CE Committee reviews your application.  If the application is approved, you will receive a conditional approval email asking you to complete the per CE Payment Form.
  • Step 3: After receiving the conditional approval email, complete the CE Payment Form via the link received in your email.  After submitting your payment, you will receive an Approval Email.
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU APPLICATION IS NOT APPROVED UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN APPROVAL NUMBER.​

Post Event Requirement
Beginning December 1, 2016, NASW Hawai'i Approved applications are required to complete a Post Event Reconciliation Form.  This form requests information on the number of social workers who attended (and received continuing education contact hours) and the number of non-social workers who attended.  This form is required to be completed within 90 days after the last approved scheduled event.  You will need the following information to complete the form:
  • NASW Hawai'i Approval Number (HI62792016-XXX)
  • CE Title
  • Contact Name
  • Contact E-mail
  • The number of social workers who attended the CE. 
    • Social Worker is defined as an individual who a social work license or a degree from an accredited CSWE social work program. 
  • The number of non-social workers who attended the CE. 
    • This includes all other attendees that do not fit the definition of social worker.
The form is completed by visiting https://form.jotform.com/naswhi/post-event

What do I need to complete the application?
There are a few additional documents that you will have to upload as part of the application.  These include:
  • Agenda and CE Calculation Document
  • ​Evaluation for the activity (view a sample)
  • Resumes or CVs of instructors or presenters (abbreviated versions are okay)
  • Advertisement material
